Job description
- Deliver engaging and inspiring Science lessons that challenge students to think critically and explore the world around them.
- Develop and implement a knowledge-rich curriculum that goes beyond the everyday experience of students.
- Collaborate effectively with a strong pastoral team to foster a culture of high expectations and personal growth.
- Maintain accurate records, assessments, and progress reports to ensure every student is on the path to success.
- Contribute to the development of the Science department, sharing best practices and innovative teaching strategies.
- Create a calm, positive, and purposeful classroom environment by consistently applying the academy's "firm but fair" behavior policy.
- Utilize structured pedagogy and scaffolded support to make complex scientific concepts accessible to all learners.
- Participate in the academy's vibrant community life, including house events and student enrichment initiatives.
Requirements
We're looking for you, if:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification is held.
- A strong degree in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) is possessed.
- A passion for social mobility and a belief that every child can achieve greatness regardless of their background.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambitious environment where high standards are the norm.
- A commitment to professional growth and a willingness to engage with research-informed pedagogical practices.
- Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain a focused and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Experience or a desire to work in an inner-city setting to help close the educational attainment gap.
