Can you hold your own in a debate with a quick-witted teenager?
Are you looking to use your degree or coaching experience to help students smash their GCSE targets?
Do you have the confidence to step into a busy classroom and command respect from the moment you walk in?
If you answered "yes," you are ready for the fast-paced world of Secondary education. Randstad Education is currently recruiting proactive Secondary Teaching Assistants to work in our partner Academies and High Schools across Sheffield.
Working in Secondary education isn't about "nurture" in the traditional sense, it's about engagement, rapport, and boundaries. We need individuals who can act as positive role models for students aged 11-16, helping them navigate the pressures of exams and adolescence.
The Role
As a Secondary TA, you won't be washing paint pots. You will be facilitating learning at a higher level.
Academic Support: working within specific departments (e.g., English, Maths, Science, or Humanities) to help students grasp complex curriculum content.
Behaviour Mentoring: specific work with students who may be disengaged or disruptive, helping them stay in the classroom and focus.
Exam Prep: assisting with revision sessions and acting as a scribe/reader during mock exams.
Inclusion: ensuring students with SEN (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia) can access the mainstream curriculum alongside their peers.
Why Sheffield Graduates & Coaches Choose Randstad

Requirements
Experience: You must have experience working with young people aged 11-18 (e.g., Youth Work, Sports Coaching, Tutoring, Camp America, or previous school experience).
Education: A degree is highly desirable (especially for subject-specific support), but a strong background in youth engagement is just as valuable.
Vetting: A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or the willingness to apply for one).
Skills: Confidence, a thick skin, and the ability to build professional relationships with young adults quickly.
