Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher to join a specialist provision or Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Clacton-on-Sea.
This role is perfect for a teacher who looks beyond the behaviour to understand the child, focusing on building the professional, nurturing relationships that lead to academic and emotional breakthroughs.
The Role
Working with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs requires a unique blend of patience and clinical expertise. You will be teaching small groups (typically 7-12 pupils), delivering a curriculum tailored to individual Learning Plans while managing complex behavioural challenges with a restorative approach.
Key Responsibilities
... - Bespoke Learning: Plan and deliver an innovative curriculum focused on the complex needs of SEMH learners.
- De-escalation: Apply positive behaviour management strategies and restorative practice to maintain a safe, purposeful environment.
- Holistic Support: Work alongside psychologists, therapists, and SENCOs to track social and emotional progress.
- Core Subjects: Strong ability to teach English and/or Maths to GCSE level is highly desirable.

Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Proven experience working with SEMH, ADHD, or ASC within an alternative provision or SEN setting.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or a willingness to complete a new application).
