SEMH Teacher | Colchester |
£140 - £230 per day
Are you a resilient, trauma-informed educator looking to make a lasting impact?
Randstad Education is recruiting for an SEMH Teacher to join a dedicated team in Colchester.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a specialised setting where your ability to build trust and rapport is just as important as your ability to deliver a lesson plan. We are looking for a teacher who can see the potential in every student, regardless of the barriers they face.
The Role
In this position, you will support students with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. Many students may have experienced trauma or have associated needs such as ASD or ADHD. You will lead a small classroom (typically 5-8 students) with high staff-to-pupil ratios, ensuring every child receives the intensive support they require to flourish.
Key Responsibilities
... - Differentiated Instruction: Create highly personalised learning pathways that cater to various academic levels and emotional needs.
- Emotional Regulation: Implement proactive strategies to help students manage their emotions and de-escalate challenging situations.
- Progress Monitoring: Use both academic and EHCP (Educational Health and Care Plan) targets to measure success.
- Collaborative Working: Partner with LSAs, social workers, and parents to provide a consistent, 360-degree support system for each learner.
What We Offer
- Daily Rate: £140 - £230 per day (MPS/UPS + SEN allowance where applicable).
- Location: Vibrant schools across Colchester with excellent facilities.
- Growth: Access to specialised CPD, including Team Teach and Mental Health First Aid training.
- Career Partner: A dedicated Randstad consultant to manage your bookings and advocate for your career goals.
- Referral Reward: Our £300 Love2Shop referral scheme.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
- Experience teaching in a PRU, Alternative Provision, or SEN school is highly preferred.
- A "can-do" attitude and the resilience to handle challenging days with a fresh perspective each morning.
- Expertise in positive behaviour management and a restorative justice approach.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service.
"Behind every 'challenging' behaviour is a child asking for help in the only way they know how."
If you have the patience and passion to help these students find a better way forward, we would love to hear from you.
