We are in the search of Special Needs Teaching Assistants with qualifications to support
pupils with special educational needs in the schools of Wigan. We expect you to support pupils with Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges, cognitive delay, global delay, down syndrome, and hearing impairments.

Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare lessons and resources, mark and assess work.
- Teach either individuals or small groups of pupils within, or outside, the class
- Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for the pupils in relation to the curriculum
- Assess children who have long or short-term learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify individual pupil's special needs
- Organise learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events.
- Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists.
Preferred skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A deep understanding and empathy for the challenges faced by pupils with special educational needs.
- The ability to remain patient and calm, even in challenging situations.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- The ability to identify barriers to learning and develop creative solutions.
Requirements:
- An Enhanced Child DBS or willingness to undertake one ( we can help with this ) .
- Good knowledge of the UK national curriculum.
- Excellent planning and organisation skills.
