As a SEND Instructor, you will be responsible for planning and delivering learning activities for small groups of students with Special Educational Needs. You will lead a team of support staff to ensure every student is engaged and safe.
- Lead Learning: Plan and deliver adapted lessons (focusing on life skills, sensory development, or vocational skills).
- Team Leadership: Direct and manage Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) within the classroom.
- Complex Needs: Support students with varied needs. Experience with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) is highly desirable.
- Holistic Support: Incorporate sensory integration, communication aids (Makaton/PECS), and social development into daily routines.
- Progress: Monitor and record student outcomes and behavioural progress.
About You
You do not need QTS for this role, but you must have significant experience leading learning or supporting complex needs.
- Essential: Proven experience working within a SEND setting (School, College, or Care). You must be confident in managing classroom behaviour's and dynamics.
- Desirable: Experience working with PMLD or complex physical/medical needs. Knowledge of sensory curriculum's is a massive plus.
- Attributes: You are resilient, creative, and able to adapt quickly when a lesson plan needs to change.
- Communication: Ability to work effectively with parents, therapists, and senior leadership.
