Job Title: SEND Tribunals and Complaints Officer
Location: South Tyneside
Salary: £30 per hour
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Tribunals and Complaints Officer to join our team in South Tyneside. As part of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective representation of the local authority in SEND Tribunals, mediation meetings, and handling complaints processes.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the local authority at mediation meetings, SEND Tribunals, and hearings, ensuring effective advocacy on behalf of the authority.
- Provide expert advice and support to colleagues within the SEND Team regarding legal and procedural matters related to tribunals and complaints.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders including parents, schools, legal representatives, and other professionals involved in SEND cases.
- Prepare documentation, evidence, and submissions for tribunal hearings and mediation meetings.
- Keep abreast of changes in legislation, policies, and procedures related to SEND and ensure compliance in all activities.
- Investigate and respond to complaints in accordance with local government complaints processes, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate follow-up actions.
Requirements:
- Experience working within a SEND Team, with a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks governing SEND provision.
- Proven experience representing the local authority at mediation meetings, SEND Tribunals, and hearings, with a track record of successful outcomes.
- Thorough knowledge of the local government complaints process and experience in handling complaints effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing priorities and demands.
Qualifications:
- Registered with Social work England
- A Degree in Social work or Diploma in SW, CQSW, CSS
- Right to Work
- Enhanced DBS check, dated within the last 12 months
- HMRC declaration form.
