As a SEND TA, you will play a vital role in the daily life of the classroom. You will support students who require extra help due to physical, emotional, or cognitive challenges. Your goal is to foster an environment where every student feels safe, valued, and capable of learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Academic Support: Assist the teacher by working with students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to help them access the lesson.
- Social & Emotional Growth: Support the development of social skills and emotional regulation through structured play and guided interaction.
- Resource Preparation: Create and organise sensory tools, visual aids, and adapted learning materials.
- Safe Space Management: Assist with the transition between activities and help maintain a calm, focused classroom atmosphere.
Candidate Requirements
- Passion for Inclusion: A genuine desire to support children with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, or Global Development Delay.
- Communication: Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills (experience with Makaton or PECS is a plus).
- Adaptability: The ability to stay calm under pressure and think on your feet when a student's needs change.
- Reliability: Consistency is key for SEND students; we are looking for someone committed to a long-term placement.
