The Opportunity: SEN Learning Support Assistant
This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to join our committed team as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Learning Support Assistant (LSA). The role focuses on providing crucial, tailored assistance to pupils across Key Stages 1 and 2 with a variety of needs, including communication and interaction difficulties, sensory impairments, and moderate learning difficulties. You will be instrumental in helping students access the curriculum and achieve their personal, social, and academic targets.

Core Roles and Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted support to individuals or small groups inside and outside the classroom, facilitating their engagement with lessons.
- Implement strategies outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), focusing on developmental and academic milestones.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCo to prepare and adapt differentiated resources and learning activities.
- Actively promote student independence and self-esteem, teaching essential life and social skills.
- Observe, record, and report on student performance and progress, contributing to review meetings and assessments.
- Assist with the supervision of pupils during non-lesson times (e.g., break times, lunchtimes) to ensure safety and positive social interaction.
- Support the emotional and physical well-being of students, responding sensitively to their needs and adhering to safeguarding procedures.
What We're Seeking in You
We are looking for a highly motivated, patient, and empathetic individual who can integrate seamlessly into our supportive structure.
- Significant experience working with children or young people with complex SEN.
- Exceptional resilience and a proactive, problem-solving approach to challenging situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, capable of liaising effectively with professionals and parents.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively while prioritizing diverse student needs.
- Knowledge of various SEN strategies and interventions (e.g., visual timetables, Makaton, PECS) is highly desirable.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to participate in relevant training.
- A NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent qualification) is preferred.
