Roles & Responsibilities
The successful Teaching Assistant will be a pivotal member of the Key Stage 1 team, expected to:
Pastoral Care: Provide emotional support and guidance to pupils, particularly those identified as needing therapeutic or behavioural intervention.
Phonics Intervention: Lead daily systematic synthetic phonics sessions for small groups, accurately tracking progress and reporting attainment.
Environmental Management: Ensure the classroom and continuous provision areas are hazard-free, well-stocked, and organised to support independence.
Complex Needs Support: Work 1:1 with specific pupils with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), adapting activities to meet their diverse learning styles.
Behaviour Implementation: Confidently implement agreed behaviour management programmes, using positive reinforcement strategies to manage pupil conduct.
Breaktime Supervision: Supervise pupils during lunch and break times, promoting positive social interaction and mediating minor conflicts effectively.
Requirements
The school is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional who meets:
Qualification: An NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent) is highly beneficial.
Experience: Demonstrable experience working with primary-aged children, particularly those with SEND or complex needs.
Training (Desirable): Training or certification in specific behaviour support techniques (e.g., Team Teach, ELSA).
Safeguarding Knowledge: A strong understanding and commitment to UK safeguarding procedures and protocol.
Personal Qualities: High levels of professional resilience, empathy, and excellent verbal communication skills.
