Roles & Responsibilities:
The successful Teaching Assistant will be expected to:
Specialist Support: Deliver structured 1:1 and small group interventions, particularly focusing on Phonics and Key Stage 2 literacy support.
Behaviour Support: Actively implement the school's behaviour policy, monitoring pupil behaviour and intervening effectively to promote a positive learning environment.
Resource Preparation: Efficiently prepare and organise specialised teaching aids, resources, and IT equipment for lessons.
Data Recording: Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and attainment during intervention sessions, reporting feedback to the Class Teacher promptly.
Pupil Welfare: Provide sensitive emotional support and assist with the personal care and mobility of pupils with complex needs, where required.
Liaison: Liaise with the SENCo and Class Teacher to adapt learning materials and ensure all pupils have full access to the curriculum.
Requirements
The school expects applicants to meet the following criteria:
Qualification: NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or an equivalent qualification) is essential.
Experience: Proven experience supporting pupils with diverse needs (e.g., Autism, ADHD) within a UK classroom setting.
Resilience: High levels of patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm and proactive under pressure.
Literacy/Numeracy: Excellent standards of written and verbal English and strong numeracy skills.
Compliance: Must be willing to apply for or possess a current Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
