Are you a detail-oriented engineer with a passion for safety and precision? Our client is looking for skilled Test Technicians to join our Test and Validation team. You will play a critical role in ensuring our fleet of world-class trains meets the highest standards of safety and quality before they hit the tracks.
The Role
As a Test Technician, you will be responsible for the routine testing and validation of fleet trains. You'll work within a high-performance culture, following strict procedures to ensure every component functions perfectly. From initial project mobilisation to final delivery, you will be the guardian of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Precision Testing: Execute routine test procedures on rail vehicles in accordance with delivery plans.
- Data Analysis: Record and analyze results (using systems like SAP) to determine pass/fail status and troubleshoot issues.
- Fault Finding: Undertake complex fault finding, repairs, and maintenance using technical engineering drawings.
- Continuous Improvement: Support the development of new test procedures and trialling equipment on early production vehicles.
- Safety & Operations: Drive/shunt rail vehicles within the test house and sidings (training provided) and maintain a "Safety First" ethos.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Lead Technicians and Engineers to investigate failures and provide detailed technical feedback.
About You
We are looking for someone who doesn't just follow a process but takes pride in the accuracy of their work. You should be a strong communicator who thrives in a cross-functional team environment.
Essential Requirements:
- Education: NVQ Level 3 in a relevant Engineering discipline.
- Experience: Proven background in testing and engineering (Experience in an Operational Railway Environment is a major plus).
- Technical Skills: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and test results; proficient in IT (SAP experience preferred).
- Mindset: A strong commitment to Health & Safety and Knowledge of ISO 9000 principles.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel for off-site training and work across various areas of the facility, including the test track and sidings.
Note: This is a Safety Critical / Key Safety Post. Applicants must be able to hold relevant Track Safety competence.
