Neil is a longstanding and highly valued employee with a global bank in Basingstoke. Neil’s eyesight deteriorated significantly and action was required if he was to continue in his senior position. Together with his employer, he took part in the government’s Access to Work scheme. This initiative helps organisations implement and fund reasonable adjustments for employees with a disability.

Neil was awarded funds and was recommended to contact Randstad so we could provide a support worker for him to help with numerous aspects of his role. Neil spoke to one of our disability specialists, who took detailed information regarding his requirements and selected a list of support workers for interview, from which Amy was selected. She successfully completed a rigorous, stringent recruitment and vetting process to be offered a place alongside the team of nationwide Randstad support workers.

Once Amy joined as Neil’s PA, she helped him transform his world of work and was able to rebuild his pride and confidence in his job role. She successfully supported him to carry out a variety of activities that he had previously found an incredible challenge enabling Neil to undertake more and more of his previous role and be a productive member of the team.

“Working with Randstad Student and Worker Support was a seamless and streamlined process. They helped me understand just what was possible, what I could attain, how my funding would be undertaken and what I could achieve having a dedicated support worker.”

“It was difficult at the beginning to admit just how much support I needed. In fact, I refused for a long time to really face the reality of my situation. I felt that I was letting my team down because I couldn’t contribute to my full potential. I am just so thankful for the support I’ve received. It’s restored my pride, my confidence and most importantly my ability to continue on as a senior member of my team and fully participate with my employer’s goals and objectives.

I feel like I am contributing again which is an amazing feeling. I can’t put in to words, the enormity of Amy’s contribution and the support my employer has given me. It has literally transformed not just my working life but my life full stop. Thank you to my employer, Randstad and Amy for your support.”
