supporting students to become graduates

why this is so important.

The Disabled Graduate Employment report published in 2021 by the Disabled Students Commission (DSC) on behalf of the Office for Students (OFS) calls on universities and colleges to reflect on the support provided to disabled students and graduates for moving into employment. The transition from University to the workplace for disabled students can present challenges, and that the disability employment gap was 28.8% as of 2021.

Randstad understands the benefits of enabling an inclusive and diverse workforce having conducted research and published our workplace diversity and inclusion  report in 2021, where we highlighted that for many people with a disability, a job search is fraught with anxiety making the task even more challenging.  As the leading provider of disability support for HE students in the UK, working with 200+ universities and colleges, and supporting 20,000 students to achieve their academic aspirations, we also have an in-depth understanding of the specific challenges faced by disabled students

The support will be delivered over a 3-6 month period, and made up of weekly or monthly one to one sessions as determined by the University at the point of referral, and dependent on the individual student requirements and support needs.  Support can take place in person, or virtually based on student preference.

In addition to the one to one, tailored support, Randstad will also set up group sessions for any students referred to them for employability support, these sessions will cover:

  • developing an online presence for prospective employers
  • how to produce an engaging profile and cv
  • how to search for a job
  • personal branding
