In 2014, Randstad Inhouse Services were approached by Hospira a global pharmaceutical and medical devices company who needed to relocate their offices due to a shortage of skills in their current area.

It was having a detrimental effect on their business growth. The client was working with a number of generalist and specialised recruitment agencies, however there was a lack of standardised recruitment processes, no consistency in the quality of candidates and very little cost control.

Randstad Inhouse Services implemented an on-site resourcing delivery model and supported in the downsizing and redeployment of their current workforce, alongside building a rigorous recruitment plan to attract top talent at their new location and ensure a real focus was placed on ensuring key skills were not lost in the transition. 

Randstad developed a project plan which engaged relevant parties to focus on specific areas of the business. RIS’s HR business partner engaged with the exiting workforce to give advice and conduct workshops to support our client in their redeployment, whilst operationally RIS needed to quickly identify the key skills that were due to leave the business, due to not wanting to relocate, and replace them within the new facility to ensure minimum impact to the business continuity. 

We built and implemented bespoke recruitment processes, by utilising our Black Belt Six Sigma Workforce Analysts which not only gave clear processes to our client, it also quickly enabled us to deliver 100% fulfilment across temporary and permanent vacancies by either direct hire or using the specialised PSL. 

We created guides for hiring managers, implemented an on-line screening tool for candidates and coordinated and managed the construction of a specialised preferred supplier list. The specialised suppliers were effectively managed on quality, cost and delivery through KPI’s.

Cost savings have been delivered through Randstad controlling and negotiating margins across the PSL as well as 80% of vacancies being sourced directly by RIS at a fixed price. 

£87,000 in cost savings within the first nine months.
