There is no hiding the fact that these are challenging times for Local Authority organisations due to ever tightening public sector finances, and the only way council departments can continue to deliver their respective services is by providing them more efficiently. It is our firm intent that employees should have an equal level of advancement, equal access to opportunity and the training necessary to achieve that end.
It is our policy to communicate regularly on matters that are important to all of us, such as the quality of our service, information about your role and your terms and conditions of employment. We will also encourage you to give us your views about the way the organisation operates.
The Vale of Glamorgan council is based in various sites across this beautiful county, and our Civic and Docks Offices are based in Barry, which is the Vale of Glamorgan’s largest town with a resident population of around 54,000. As well as being the Vale of Glamorgan’s administrative centre, it is also an important transport hub with four train stations, (Barry Dock train station is less than 5 minutes’ walk from the Civic Office), an operational port and a wide range of bus links. On-site parking is available for colleagues that travel to work by car.
The Vale of Glamorgan is Wales' most southern Unitary Authority and covers 331 square miles with 53 kilometres of coastline, of which 19 kilometres is the renowned Heritage Coast. The authority is predominantly rural but also contains a mixture of towns and villages, making the area a varied and desirable place to work.
