Bradford Metropolitan District Council is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Advanced Practitioner to join our Children in Care Team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape practice, mentor colleagues, and drive positive outcomes for some of Bradford's most vulnerable children and young people.
About the Role:
As an Advanced Practitioner, you will be a key leader within the Children in Care team, holding a complex and challenging caseload while also providing expert guidance, support, and oversight to less experienced social workers. You will champion best practice, contribute to service development, and ensure high-quality social work interventions for children and young people who are looked after by the local authority.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a reduced, complex caseload of children in care, focusing on achieving permanence and stability.
- Providing reflective supervision, mentoring, and practice guidance to social workers within the team.
- Leading on complex cases, offering expert advice and support to colleagues.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of team policies and procedures.
- Undertaking quality assurance activities and promoting high standards of social work practice.
- Representing the service in multi-agency meetings and court proceedings where necessary.
- Acting as a role model for effective and impactful social work.
About You:
We are looking for an exceptional individual with a proven track record in children's social work and a passion for supporting colleagues and driving service improvement.
You will need:
- A recognised Social Work qualification.
- Current Social Work England registration.
- Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in children's social work, with significant experience in a Children in Care, Looked After Children (LAC), or long-term child protection team.
- Demonstrable experience of mentoring, coaching, or providing practice guidance to others.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice relating to children in care.
- Exceptional assessment, analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
- The ability to lead, motivate, and inspire colleagues.
- A strong commitment to reflective practice and continuous professional development.
