The Opportunity: High-Rate Locum Contract
This is a Full-Time, Ongoing Locum Contract working 37 hours per week in South Tyneside. The role offers a premium pay rate of £32.58 per hour, reflecting the specialist nature and immediate demand for a high-quality assessment specialist.
📝 Core Duties and Responsibilities
This role is the "Front Door" for statutory intervention, requiring fast-paced, analytical decision-making to determine the correct pathway for a child.
Statutory Investigation: Leading and coordinating urgent Section 47 Enquiries in response to allegations of significant harm, ensuring immediate safety is prioritized.
Assessment and Analysis: Conducting timely and high-quality statutory Child & Family Assessments, using a restorative and strengths-based approach to thoroughly analyze risk and parental capacity.
Pathway Planning: Making clear, informed recommendations on the appropriate level of service required. This includes determining the pathway to Early Help/Family Help, a Child in Need (CIN) Plan, or a Child Protection Plan (leading to Core Group formation and Conferences).
Multi-Agency Liaison: Working closely with the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), Police, and Health partners to gather information and formulate robust safety and support plans.
Initial Court Work: Preparing initial statements and documentation under the Public Law Outline (PLO) where cases require escalation to legal proceedings.
✅ What We Need From You
A recognized professional qualification in Social Work.
Current registration with Social Work England (SW).
A minimum of 2 years post-qualified experience in a statutory Front Door, Assessment, or Referral & Assessment Team.
Exceptional skills in risk analysis, decision-making, and analytical report writing.
A strong commitment to restorative practice and the ability to build rapport quickly with families in crisis.
