Social Worker, Children's Assessment Team
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Social Worker to undertake high-quality, timely assessments of need and risk for children and families across Newcastle.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out comprehensive Single Assessments and Strategy Discussions following reports of concerns for a child.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including Police and Health, to gather information and formulate effective plans.
Ensure the voice of the child is central to all assessments and decision-making processes.
Present clear, evidence-based reports to Child Protection Conferences and the Court where required.
Manage a varied and complex caseload, ensuring all statutory requirements and timescales are met.
Essential Requirements
A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., degree or equivalent).
Current registration with Social Work England.
Proven post-qualifying experience in a children's setting, ideally within an assessment or duty team.
Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989/2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and promoting diversity.
The ability to manage challenging situations and maintain resilience under pressure.
