This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring Assistant Quantity Surveyor to develop their career within a renowned and specialised contractor. Working closely with the wider Commercial team and Project Managers, this person will play a crucial role in the financial success of projects, gaining invaluable hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Assisting with the preparation of tender documents, procurement schedules, and contract administration.
- Supporting the measurement and valuation of works, including site measurements and preparation of valuations for interim payments.
- Assisting in the preparation of cost reports, variations, and final accounts.
- Contributing to the identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities.
- Supporting the negotiation and agreement of sub-contractor accounts.
- Attending site meetings and contributing to project progress discussions.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date project cost records and documentation.
- Assisting with the assessment and submission of claims.
- Collaborating effectively with project teams, clients, and sub-contractors.
- Adhering to company commercial procedures and policies.
What We're Looking For:
- A degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- Some practical experience within a construction environment (desirable, but not essential for exceptional graduates).
- A strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial principles.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- A proactive, organised, and detail-oriented approach to work.
- A strong desire to learn and develop within the Quantity Surveying profession.
- Full UK driving licence (desirable).
