This is an exceptional opportunity to provide crucial support to unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people, guiding them through a complex and often challenging journey.
About the Role:
As a Qualified Social Worker in the Asylum Through Care Team, you will be responsible for undertaking comprehensive assessments and providing ongoing support to unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people. You will play a vital role in ensuring their welfare, safeguarding their rights, and helping them to navigate the asylum process and transition into independent living.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Undertake holistic assessments of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people, considering their developmental, cultural, and trauma-informed needs.
- Develop and implement individual care plans that address their unique circumstances, including safeguarding, immigration, education, health, and emotional well-being.
- Provide direct support and advocacy for young people throughout the asylum process, liaising with legal representatives, immigration services, and other relevant agencies.
- Work collaboratively with foster carers, residential staff, and other professionals to ensure a stable and nurturing environment for young people in care.
- Support young people in accessing education, healthcare, and other services, promoting their integration into the community.
- Prepare and present reports for various purposes, including asylum claims, care proceedings, and court hearings, ensuring accuracy and sensitivity.
- Manage a caseload of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people, prioritizing needs and responding effectively to crises.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of culturally sensitive and trauma-informed practices within the team.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date records on all cases, adhering to data protection guidelines.
- Participate in regular supervision, training, and professional development opportunities relevant to this specialist area.
Key Requirements:
- You must be a Qualified Social Worker.
- Social Work England registration is essential.
- An updated Enhanced DBS is required for this role.
