The Opportunity: Behaviour Support Worker/Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
This is a full-time, long-term position commencing ASAP, supporting a dynamic and ambitious secondary school in the Bradford area. Requirements
... - Previous experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour.
- A minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)
Essential Skills
- Exceptional patience and a calm, composed demeanour.
- Proven ability in behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for effective reporting and liaison.
- Excellent resilience and emotional strength to navigate challenging situations.
- A high degree of empathy and a commitment to safeguarding student welfare.
- Strong organisational skills for managing paperwork and student records.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement specific behaviour intervention plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Provide in-class and small-group academic support to raise attainment.
- Monitor and accurately record student progress, achievements, and incidents.
- Liaise effectively with class teachers, SENCO, and pastoral staff regarding student welfare.
- De-escalate challenging situations and manage classroom disruptions calmly and professionally.
- Promote a positive and safe learning environment, upholding the school's behaviour policy.
- Support students during non-lesson times, including breaks and lunch, ensuring supervision.
- Assist with the planning and preparation of differentiated learning resources.
- Foster independent learning skills and resilience in students.
- Attend and actively contribute to relevant staff meetings and training sessions.
