To provide advanced social work-level services to children, families, and courts by assessing court applications for child protection and serious welfare issues. As an FCA, you act as the independent "voice of the child," ensuring their wishes and feelings are central to the court's decision-making process.
Key Responsibilities
Safeguarding & Assessment: Conduct high-quality early safeguarding checks, risk assessments, and complex case analyses for both Public and Private law proceedings.
Voice of the Child: Meet directly with children to understand their experiences and ensure these are powerfully represented to the family court.
Report Writing: Produce evidence-based reports, including Section 7 reports and safeguarding letters, providing clear recommendations to the judiciary.
Court Advocacy: Attend Family Court hearings to provide expert testimony and professional analysis.
Mediation & Influence: Work persuasively with family members and other professionals to help them remain child-focused during high-conflict disputes.
Case Management: Manage a demanding caseload with rapid throughput while maintaining high standards rated as "Good" or "Outstanding" in audits.
Requirements
Experience: A minimum of 3 years' post-qualifying experience in social work with children and families at risk.
Qualification: Diploma in Social Work or Social Work England recognized equivalent.
Registration: Active registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Knowledge: Expertise in child protection, the Family Justice system, and Public/Private Law.
