We are seeking adaptable and diligent Supply Caretakers / Premises Officers to provide crucial cover across various primary and secondary schools specifically within the Sutton Coldfield area (including Four Oaks, Mere Green, and Walmley).
This role is essential for ensuring the operational effectiveness, security, and presentation of our school sites.
Key Responsibilities
Site Security: Performing key holding duties, locking and unlocking school buildings and gates at designated times, and responding to emergency call-outs.
Maintenance & Repair: Performing basic, time-critical maintenance tasks and minor repairs (e.g., painting, addressing simple plumbing issues, small joinery jobs).
Health & Safety: Ensuring all school grounds and access routes are safe and clear, especially during adverse weather. Conducting mandatory checks (e.g., fire alarm testing, legionella checks), and reporting serious maintenance issues promptly.
Cleaning & Presentation: Overseeing the general cleanliness of the school site, liaising with external cleaning contractors, and performing basic cleaning or deep cleaning duties where required.
Logistics & Support: Receiving and distributing deliveries, setting up and rearranging furniture/halls for school events, and ensuring stock control of premises supplies.
Essential Requirements
Local Flexibility: The ability to travel reliably between different school sites within the Sutton Coldfield area.
Practical Skills: Proven DIY aptitude and competence in carrying out a wide range of minor repairs and maintenance tasks independently.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with school staff, pupils, parents, and visitors.
Safeguarding: A genuine and non-negotiable commitment to the welfare and safeguarding of children and young people.
Mandatory Requirement: Enhanced DBS Check
A current, clear Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service is essential for this role. If you do not currently hold an Enhanced DBS, you must be willing to immediately undertake the necessary checks as part of the recruitment process.
