Location: A well-established secondary school in the Patcham area of Brighton.
Are you a practical, hands-on person who takes pride in a job well done? Do you want a stable, local role where your hard work directly impacts the daily lives of hundreds of young people?
We are looking for a reliable and self-motivated Site Team Leader/Caretaker to be the operational backbone of our busy school campus. This is more than a maintenance role-you will be the trusted eyes and ears of our site, ensuring everything runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
What You Will Be Doing:
Keeping the Place Safe: You'll be responsible for the security of the whole site-opening up in the morning and securing the buildings at the end of the day. You'll handle alarm call-outs and be the go-to person for site safety.
Fixing and Improving: From a leaky tap to painting a classroom, you'll use your practical skills to carry out essential minor repairs and routine maintenance. If you can fix it, we want you!
Presentation Matters: Ensuring the grounds and buildings are clean, tidy, and welcoming for students and staff. You'll manage cleaning schedules and keep the school looking its best.
Team Support: Preparing for big events (like assemblies or parents' evenings), moving equipment, and ensuring all areas are ready for learning, teaching, and community use.
Health & Safety Champion: Conducting regular checks and spot-checks to make sure the school is compliant and safe for everyone who steps through the doors.
Who We Need:
Someone with solid general maintenance skills and a can-do attitude. Experience in a previous maintenance, trade, or site role is a real advantage.
A trustworthy and dependable person who takes initiative and manages their own time effectively.
A clear communicator who can work well with students, teachers, and external contractors.
Crucially: You must be prepared to be flexible. This role involves full-time hours, and sometimes split shifts or out-of-hours cover is necessary.
A current, clear Enhanced DBS check is highly preferred and will speed up your start date. If you don't have one, we will conduct a full check as part of our rigorous safer recruitment process.
