We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Children's Social Worker to join our dedicated team in Redcar. You will play a crucial role in leading and supporting the team, undertaking complex casework, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred support to children and families. You will be a key member of the team, contributing to the overall effectiveness and quality of service provision.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage a complex caseload of children and families, conducting thorough assessments, developing and implementing effective care plans, and ensuring that children are safeguarded.
* Prepare and present high-quality reports for meetings, conferences, and court proceedings, adhering to agreed standards.
* Work within the statutory framework and comply with all relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and guidance (e.g., Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children).
* Promote high standards of professional practice through monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating interventions.
* Maintain high-quality safeguarding standards for children, reporting concerns promptly to the Team Manager.
* Provide day-to-day professional advice and guidance to team members, ensuring services are consistent, integrated, and of the highest standard.
* Assist the Team Manager in the formal supervision of team members.
* Mentor staff through formal and informal development sessions, supporting their professional development and progression.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date computerised and written records.
* Chair and minute meetings, as well as participating in meetings in respect of service users (e.g., Child Protection Conferences, Case Reviews).
Essential Criteria:
* A recognised Social Work qualification.
* Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
* Significant post-qualifying experience in children's social work.
* Proven ability to manage complex caseloads.
* Excellent assessment, planning, and report-writing skills.
* Strong understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience in mentoring and supervision.
* Experience in court work.
* Experience working with specific client groups (e.g., children with disabilities, children experiencing exploitation).
