We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Children's Social Worker to join our dedicated team. You will play a crucial role in leading and supporting the team, undertaking complex casework, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred support to children and families. You will be a key member of the team, contributing to the overall effectiveness and quality of service provision.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead Complex Casework: Take primary responsibility for complex cases, ensuring children and families receive appropriate support to the highest standards. This includes conducting thorough assessments, developing and implementing effective care plans, and managing cases through all stages, including court proceedings where necessary.
2. Report Writing & Presentations: Prepare and present high-quality reports for meetings, conferences, and court proceedings, adhering to agreed standards. This requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
3. Statutory Framework & Compliance: Work within the statutory framework and comply with all relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and guidance (e.g., Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children). This will require a strong understanding of relevant legislation and a commitment to maintaining high professional standards.
4. Quality Assurance & Service Improvement: Promote high standards of professional practice through monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating interventions. Identify opportunities for service improvement and contribute to the development of new initiatives.
5. Safeguarding: Maintain high-quality safeguarding standards for children, reporting concerns promptly to the Team Manager. This will require a strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and legislation.
6. Mentoring & Supervision: Provide day-to-day professional advice and guidance to team members, ensuring services are consistent, integrated, and of the highest standard. Assist the Team Manager in the formal supervision of team members.
7. Staff Development: Mentor staff through formal and informal development sessions, supporting their professional development and progression towards post-qualifying awards.
8. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date computerised and written records in accordance with Directorate guidelines. This will involve meticulous record keeping and the efficient use of electronic case management systems.
9. Meetings & Chairing: Chair and minute meetings, as well as participating in meetings in respect of service users (e.g., Child Protection Conferences, Case Reviews). This requires excellent organisational and communication skills.
Essential Criteria:
* A recognised Social Work qualification.
* Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
* Significant post-qualifying experience in children's social work.
* Proven ability to manage complex caseloads and lead a team.
* Excellent assessment, planning, and report-writing skills.
* Strong understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience in mentoring and supervision.
* Experience in court work.
* Experience working with a specific client group
