Randstad is looking for a an experienced Corporate Commercial and Contracts Director to lead the head office commercial and contracts function for a major contracting business in Riyadh, KSA. This is a senior role in the business working closely with the CEO in Riyadh, overseeing a portfolio of building projects valued circa 20 billion SAR.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the Gulf region, managing all commercial and contractual aspects of large-scale construction projects. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing commercial strategies, managing risk, leading contract negotiations, resolving disputes and driving business growth and efficiency.
Duties:
... - Develop and implement commercial and contracts strategies aligned with the company's goals. Provide leadership and guidance to the commercial and contracts teams
- Oversee the entire contract life-cycle, from tender review and negotiation to post-award administration and close-out
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
- Develop strategies to minimise disputes and claims
- Lead the preparation and negotiation of claims and variations.
- Manage dispute resolution processes, including litigation or arbitration, as necessary
- Ensure all commercial and contractual activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements in KSA
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and address any
commercial concerns - Perform market analysis to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and potential business
opportunities
To be considered, candidates must have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Commercial Management, Construction, Civil Engineering, or Quantity Surveying is essential. A Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB) are highly desirable.
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in a senior commercial and contracts role within the construction industry
- Extensive contracting experience in the Gulf region is non-negotiable, with a deep understanding of local laws, regulations, and market practices
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate large teams
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- In-depth knowledge of various forms of contracts, including FIDIC
