About the Role
A secondary school in Wakefield is seeking a dedicated, confident, and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis starting in September 2025. As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. You won't be expected to teach new content, but you will be required to manage the classroom, ensure students remain on task, and maintain a calm and productive learning environment.

Requirements
... - Experience working with secondary-aged students (in school or youth settings)
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Eligibility to work in the UK.

Main Responsibilities
- Supervise lessons in the absence of teaching staff
- Deliver pre-set work provided by the absent teacher
- Maintain good order and ensure a purposeful learning environment
- Respond to questions and support student's understanding of the work
- Follow the school's behaviour policy and escalate concerns appropriately
- Manage classroom transitions smoothly and efficiently
- Provide feedback to teaching staff on student behaviour or progress
- Ensure students complete all assigned work
- Promote a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere
- Engage students through encouragement and presence
