Roles and Responsibilities
... - Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers, primarily using pre-prepared materials.
- Maintain discipline and positive behaviour within the classroom, following the school's behaviour policy.
- Manage the learning environment to ensure students remain on task and are supported in their work.
- Respond to student questions about the set work and provide encouragement.
- Collect completed work and leave comprehensive feedback for the absent teacher on class progress and any issues arising.
- Promote a supportive and productive atmosphere that encourages student engagement and respect.
- Report any safeguarding or behavioural concerns immediately and appropriately.
- Provide administrative support to the teaching staff as and when required outside of cover duties.
