The Role: Cover Supervisor
As a Cover Supervisor, you are the face of the classroom during unexpected teacher absences. Your primary function is to ensure learning continues uninterrupted by confidently delivering pre-planned work and upholding high standards of behaviour and engagement. You will cover a wide and varied timetable, providing an excellent overview of the school curriculum and operations.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring all students are focused on the work provided.
- Actively circulate the classroom to maintain a productive working atmosphere and address minor questions or issues.
- Effectively manage and report student behaviour using the school's established behaviour management strategies and protocols.
- Introduce the lesson and clearly explain the learning objectives and pre-prepared tasks to the students.
- Collect completed student work and hand it back to the relevant Head of Department or teacher for assessment.
- Assist students in finding resources and support materials necessary to complete the assigned tasks.
- Supervise small groups or individual students outside of the main class setting when required by the Senior Leadership Team.
Candidate Profile:
We are searching for someone who is adaptable, professional, and possesses natural authority.
- Confident classroom presence and the ability to establish positive boundaries quickly with teenagers.
- Previous experience working with groups of young people in an educational, youth work, or training setting.
- An excellent standard of written and verbal English and a clear communication style.
- Highly reliable and punctual, with a proactive approach to managing a varied daily schedule.
- A calm, authoritative, and resilient demeanour when dealing with challenging student situations.
- A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students.
