The Role: Cover Supervisor
This pivotal role involves supervising students in the absence of their regular teacher, ensuring continuity of learning and maintaining a productive classroom environment. You will be responsible for managing the classroom, distributing pre-prepared work, and supporting students to complete their tasks effectively. Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of the class teacher.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, following the school's behaviour policy to ensure a calm and focused environment.
- Distribute and explain pre-set work to students.
- Respond to student queries relating to the work, providing guidance as needed.
- Collect completed work and resources at the end of the lesson.
- Report any issues or concerns regarding student behaviour or learning to the relevant staff member.
- Maintain a positive learning environment, promoting student engagement and respect.
- Adhere to all school policies and procedures, particularly regarding safeguarding.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking enthusiastic, confident, and resilient individuals who are ready to take on this challenging and rewarding role.
- A confident and authoritative presence in the classroom.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with students and staff.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above.
- A proactive, flexible, and adaptable approach to work.
- Experience working with young people (in an educational or similar setting) is highly desirable.
- A genuine commitment to the welfare and educational progress of students.
