Key Responsibilities
- Design Management: Lead and manage the detailed design development across all disciplines (Architecture, Structures, MEP) during the pre-construction phase.
- Technical Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with the client's brief, statutory requirements (including Building Regulations and Planning), and educational technical standards.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify and proactively manage design-related risks, coordinating resolutions with the design team, supply chain, and construction teams.
- Site Coordination: Provide essential design support to the site delivery team, managing the RFI (Request for Information) process, technical submittals, and implementing design changes efficiently.
- Value Engineering: Drive value engineering and buildability reviews to optimize the design without compromising quality or performance.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary design contact, effectively communicating with the client, end-users (the school), external consultants, and internal project teams.
Requirements
- Degree in Architecture or Construction related degree
- Previous experience working on school projects in a Design Manager role
- Familiar with common construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC) and the design management responsibilities within them.
