About the Role
This is a vital, hands-on position within a high-achieving Design & Technology department, focusing specifically on Resistant Materials. The successful candidate will be the heartbeat of the workshop, ensuring that all machinery, tools, and materials are prepared for students to use safely and effectively. This role is a full-time, permanent position starting ASAP. It requires someone with a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to equipment maintenance, and a genuine desire to support the creative journey of young learners.

Requirements
... - Previous experience working in a workshop environment (industrial or educational).
- A strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)
Desirable Skills
- Expertise in woodworking and joinery.
- Experience in metalwork and welding.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software
- Ability to perform basic electrical maintenance on tools.
- Understanding of 3D printing technology.
- First Aid qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and provide materials and equipment for scheduled DT lessons.
- Maintain, clean, and repair workshop machinery (lathes, saws, drills, etc.).
- Ensure all tools are sharpened, organised, and stored correctly.
- Conduct regular health and safety inspections and maintain rigorous records.
- Support teachers and students during practical lessons to ensure safety and technique.
- Manage stock levels and order new materials within a set budget.
- Prepare displays of student work to celebrate achievement.
- Safely dispose of hazardous waste materials according to COSHH regulations.
- Assist with the setup of CAD/CAM equipment, including laser cutters and 3D printers.
- Support the department in developing new projects and prototyping designs.
