We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contract Engineering Inspector to join our team, playing a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of aerospace components. This position is ideal for a meticulous professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to maintaining the highest standards in aviation manufacturing.
Location: London Area, UK (with easy access to major airports like Gatwick and Heathrow).
Contract Duration: Approximately 3 months.
Remuneration: £31.50 per hour.
Working Hours:
- Guaranteed Minimum: 25 hours per week (standby retainer).
- Expected: Up to 40 hours per week.
- Overtime: Any hours worked beyond 40 per week will be paid at an overtime rate.
Key Responsibilities:
As an Engineering Inspector, you will be responsible for conducting critical quality inspections at various supplier sites. Your primary duties will include:
- Performing source inspections of aircraft parts and sub-assemblies.
- Specialising in First Article Inspection (FAI) reports and verification.
- Inspecting a diverse range of aerospace components, including but not limited to aircraft seats, galleys, and lavatories.
- Ensuring all inspected parts comply with engineering drawings, specifications, and relevant aerospace industry standards.
- Documenting inspection results thoroughly and accurately, including any non-conformances.
- Collaborating effectively with supplier quality teams to resolve inspection findings.
- Travelling to various supplier locations as required within the London and surrounding areas, utilising your proximity to key airports.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Engineering Inspector, ideally within the aerospace or a similarly regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and documentation (AS9102 knowledge highly desirable).
- Demonstrable ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with quality control standards and inspection techniques for fabricated and assembled components.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage a variable workload.
- Must be based in the London area with easy access to major airports such as Gatwick and Heathrow for efficient travel to supplier sites.
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel as required.
