The Role
Position: Teacher of English (Secondary)
Contract: Part-Time, Long-Term Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Cover)
Hours: Two days per week (specific days to be discussed at the interview, but may be fixed)
Start Date: January 2026
As a Part-Time Teacher of English, you will be responsible for:
Planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality, engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
Contributing to the development of schemes of work and curriculum resources within the English department.
Establishing and maintaining high standards of classroom behaviour and encouraging a positive, purposeful learning atmosphere.
Actively participating in departmental meetings and wider school duties relevant to the two working days.
Requirements
To be considered for this vital role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
Proven UK teaching experience in a secondary school setting.
A relevant degree in English or a closely related subject.
Outstanding subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English Language and Literature.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
