An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated English Teacher to join a partner SEN school in Newmarket. We're looking for an exceptional individual to deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons, helping students with a variety of needs, including autism spectrum conditions, learning disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, to achieve their academic and personal goals. This is a chance to have a lasting and significant impact on young lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and accessible English lessons for students across different key stages, adapting the curriculum to meet individual needs.
- Create a positive and stimulating learning environment that encourages students to build confidence, express themselves, and develop a genuine interest in English.
- Assess student progress effectively and use this data to inform future teaching and support.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals, to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
- Manage classroom behaviour with a patient and empathetic approach, fostering a safe and respectful atmosphere.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in English or a related subject.
- Proven experience teaching English to students with SEN is essential.
- A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and a patient, empathetic approach.
- The ability to differentiate the curriculum and create personalised learning plans.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
- A Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one).
