The Role: Essential Examination Support in Cambridge
A fantastic opportunity is available for reliable and trustworthy Exam Invigilators to join the operations team at a well-regarded Secondary School based in Cambridge. This role is crucial to the smooth and secure running of all public and internal examinations, including GCSEs and A-Levels. You will be responsible for maintaining the formal conditions required by the examination board regulations, giving students the best chance to focus and perform.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting up the examination rooms meticulously according to strict guidelines (e.g., seating plans, placement of materials).
- Reading out prepared instructions and announcements clearly and accurately to candidates at the start of the examination.
- Supervising students constantly and unobtrusively throughout the examination period, maintaining silence and a formal atmosphere.
- Responding to queries from candidates in line with set procedures, and reporting any potential malpractice or irregularities immediately to the Lead Invigilator.
- Distributing and collecting exam papers, stationery, and other materials carefully, ensuring all materials are accounted for.
- Escorting students to and from the examination room and during rest breaks, ensuring no communication takes place.
- Ensuring students adhere to all examination rules, including rules regarding mobile phones and prohibited items.
Requirements
- A high degree of punctuality, reliability, and attention to detail is essential.
- The ability to follow complex rules and procedures accurately and consistently.
- Excellent observational skills and a calm, authoritative presence.
- Strong verbal communication skills to deliver instructions clearly.
- Prior experience in a similar role or a formal, regulated environment is desirable but full training will be provided.
- Flexibility to work on an ad-hoc basis during peak examination periods (e.g., May/June).
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
