The Opportunity: Locum Contract
This is a Full-Time, Ongoing Locum Contract working 37 hours per week in Gateshead, offering a competitive pay rate of £27.56 per hour.
📝 Core Duties and Responsibilities
This non-case holding role is fast-paced, focusing entirely on information gathering, risk analysis, and timely decision-making to determine the pathway of intervention.
Referral Screening: Managing high volumes of incoming referrals and contacts from professionals (Police, Health, Education) and members of the public regarding potential harm to children.
Risk Analysis: Conducting thorough viability assessments and initial screening to identify immediate risks and escalating concerns to the appropriate statutory service (e.g., Child Protection/S47) within mandated timescales.
Multi-Agency Liaison: Working closely within the MASH model to liaise with co-located partners, gathering essential historical and current information to inform triage decisions.
Decision Making: Making clear, timely, and analytical decisions on the appropriate route for the family: either directing to Early Help, escalating for a full statutory assessment, or closing the case where thresholds are not met.
Information Quality: Ensuring all contacts, information gathering, and decisions are accurately recorded on the electronic case management system.
✅ What We Need From You
A recognized professional qualification in Social Work.
Current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Proven experience (2+ years) in a MASH, Front Door, or Referral & Assessment team.
Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex, high-volume information quickly.
Strong knowledge of thresholds for statutory intervention (Children Act 1989) and local safeguarding procedures.
Excellent IT and written communication skills for accurate, timely recording.
