The Role in Detail:We have excellent opportunities for dedicated and adaptable General Cover Supervisors to support various schools within the growing Cambourn community on a flexible supply or temporary contract basis.
This position is fundamental to the smooth running of the school day. Your primary duty is to supervise the execution of pre-planned lessons provided by the absent subject teacher. This requires strong presence and effective behaviour management to ensure a productive and calm environment. Your contribution ensures that students remain focused, learning time is maximised, and all school rules are consistently upheld. This role offers invaluable insight into the day-to-day operations of local education.
Core Responsibilities- Take charge of classes (across different key stages and subject areas) during periods of teacher absence.
- Clearly communicate the pre-set tasks to students and actively monitor their progress, encouraging engagement and effort.
- Implement the school's behaviour policies consistently and fairly to maintain discipline and a positive working culture.
- Be available to respond to general student queries about the task, escalating complex subject-specific questions to the relevant departmental staff.
- Provide accurate and clear feedback to the regular teacher regarding the lesson progress and any significant behavioural issues encountered.
- Ensure all actions comply with the school's safeguarding and administrative protocols.
- Previous experience in a classroom support role, youth setting, or similar environment where managing groups of young people was a key function is essential.
- Exceptional classroom presence and management skills, with the ability to command respect quickly.
- High levels of reliability, punctuality, and proven flexibility to handle different daily assignments effectively.
- Strong professional communication skills and a firm but approachable manner.
- Must hold a current Enhanced Child DBS registered on the update service (or be willing to obtain one promptly).
- A consistent and competitive daily pay rate of £120 - £150.
