The Role :We have continuous opportunities for professional and dependable General Cover Supervisors to join our dedicated team, supporting a range of partnership schools across the Huntingdon region on a supply or temporary contract basis.
This position is vital for maintaining the operational flow of our schools. Your core responsibility involves managing the classroom while supervising the completion of pre-set assignments left by the absent teacher. Success in this role hinges on your ability to enforce school policies, maintain strong discipline, and encourage students to stay focused and productive. This offers an excellent pathway to gain diverse experience within the local education sector.
Core Responsibilities- Supervise groups of students across different age groups (primarily KS3-KS5), delivering clear instructions for the pre-planned cover work.
- Proactively manage the learning environment, applying behaviour management strategies consistently and ensuring a focused, respectful atmosphere.
- Monitor students' engagement and progress throughout the lesson, encouraging them to work diligently on the provided tasks.
- Handle general classroom administration, including registration and managing resources.
- Provide accurate and detailed feedback to the relevant teacher or department head regarding the lesson and any specific issues encountered.
- Ensure strict adherence to all school-specific safeguarding and health and safety requirements.
- Relevant experience working with young people in a supervisory capacity (e.g., in a school, college, tutoring, or youth organisation) is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrable confidence in controlling and managing a diverse classroom setting independently.
- High levels of professional reliability, flexibility, and punctuality.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and a firm, clear, and positive approach to student interaction.
- Must hold a valid Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be prepared to process an application immediately).
- A consistent and competitive daily rate of £120 - £150.
