The Role in Detail:We have continuous opportunities for reliable and professional General Cover Supervisors to join our busy team, supporting schools throughout the Mildenhall area on a supply and temporary contract basis.
This position is critical for school operations, ensuring continuous learning when regular teaching staff are unavailable. You will be provided with pre-prepared lesson materials and your primary focus will be on classroom control and task supervision. While subject knowledge is not required, your effectiveness lies in your ability to manage student behaviour firmly but fairly, motivating them to work independently and productively. This role is ideal for gaining broad experience across different key stages and school cultures.
Core Responsibilities- Supervise student groups across various year levels (KS3-KS5) in the absence of the regular class teacher.
- Deliver the planned work instructions clearly and ensure all students understand the requirements for the lesson period.
- Proactively manage student conduct according to the school's established code of behaviour, fostering a respectful and work-focused atmosphere.
- Encourage student engagement with the provided material and provide general assistance as appropriate.
- Accurately feedback to the appropriate staff members regarding class progress and any significant behavioural concerns.
- Ensure strict adherence to all school policies, especially concerning safeguarding procedures.
- Relevant experience working with young people in an educational, youth, or professional environment is highly valued.
- Demonstrable strong command of a classroom and the confidence to manage groups of students independently.
- High levels of reliability, punctuality, and the ability to adapt quickly to different school environments and timetables.
- A professional, positive attitude with effective communication skills for engaging students and staff.
- A current Enhanced Child DBS registered on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
- A competitive and consistent daily pay rate of £120 - £150.
