The Role
As the Head of Science, you will be accountable for leading, managing, and developing the subject area to raise standards of student attainment and achievement. You will oversee a broad, balanced, and differentiated curriculum that provides every student with the opportunity to reach their individual potential.
Key Responsibilities:
... - Strategic Leadership: Formulate and implement an annual subject improvement plan based on rigorous data review.
- Curriculum Development: Lead the development of syllabuses, schemes of work, and assessment strategies.
- People Management: Recruit, induct, and manage a motivated team of teaching and support staff.
- Outstanding Teaching: Act as a high-profile role model for teaching excellence across all age and ability ranges.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all health and safety policies, including risk assessments, are strictly maintained within the department.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:
- A degree and QTS (or equivalent).
- Proven track record of successful teaching at GCSE level with evidence of raising achievement.
- Thorough knowledge of current curriculum developments and educational thinking.
- Ability to motivate others, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Desirable: Prior management training.
