- Salary: £34,398 - £48,913 per year (M1 - UPS1 Fringe)

- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:15 am - 4:45 pm
- Tuesday: 8:15 am - 5:00 pm
- Friday: 8:15 am - 4:00 pm
The Opportunity
This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate educator to join the founding team of a brand new SEND Secondary School in Redhill, Surrey.
This new school will provide a specialist learning environment for young people aged 11-16. Their students require support with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism.
You will be integral to shaping the school's culture and success from day one. They are building an environment based on small classes, high levels of classroom support, and a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team. This model allows to personalise their broad and exciting curriculum, giving every student the opportunity to achieve.
Key Responsibilities
As a Teacher of History & Geography, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, adaptive teaching to students who may have complex needs and present challenging behaviours.
Your main duties will include:
- To contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
- To work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- To maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum.
- To set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.
- To monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through school policies and procedures.
- To develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.
- To contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.
- To provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
- To maintain an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism in order to be able to plan for effective teaching and learning.
- To work in a non-confrontational way to ensure individual needs are met.
- To appropriately manage challenging behaviours within the school policy and procedures.
We are looking for a dedicated teacher with:
- PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- The ability to confidently teach History and Geography up to and including GCSE level.
- A strong understanding and working knowledge of supporting students with complex needs and SEND, particularly autism and associated conditions.
- Evidence of a sound knowledge of the national curriculum and, ideally, experience in developing and implementing it for pupils with SEND.
