Job Title: Housing Group Support Officer
Location: Bridgend County Borough
Pay Rate: £13.47 per hour
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours/week (Mon - Fri)
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive Housing Group Support Officer to provide essential administrative and clerical support to the Housing and Community Regeneration teams in Bridgend. This is a key operational role focused on ensuring the smooth delivery of housing services, including the management of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and the council's leasing schemes. You will act as a central point of contact for internal and external partners while maintaining the accuracy of critical housing databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative Support: Providing comprehensive clerical assistance to managers and housing teams, including coordinating calendars, circulating documentation, and distributing meeting notes.
- Data & Systems Management: Maintaining and updating electronic filing systems and computerised databases, ensuring all service user records are validated for accuracy.
- Financial Administration: Handling financial data entry, budget monitoring, and reconciliation for internal audit purposes (COA reports).
- Partner Liaison: Collaborating with external partners such as Police, Probation, and Registered Social Landlords to verify service user information and arrange placements for interim accommodation.
- Internal Coordination: Working with internal departments like Building Maintenance, Sundry Debtors, and Benefits to ensure the effective upkeep of homelessness units and accurate financial record-keeping.
- Service Improvement: Assisting in the regular review of administrative procedures to ensure they remain customer-focused and efficient.
Essential Requirements
- Education: Educated to QCF (NVQ) Level 3 or able to demonstrate equivalent competence through professional experience.
- IT Proficiency: Excellent IT skills, with a specific requirement for competency in Microsoft Excel (ideally supported by an Excel-related qualification).
- Experience: Proven experience working within an administrative environment, preferably handling financial systems or local authority processes.
- Knowledge: A general awareness of housing issues and an understanding of council administrative systems.
- Communication Skills: Strong written, numerical, and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Adaptability: The ability to work flexibly across the service, manage conflicting priorities, and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.
