As a Qualified Social Worker in the Initial Response Team, your key roles and responsibilities will include:
Conducting timely and thorough initial assessments of referrals concerning children and young people who may be at risk of harm or in need of support.
Responding swiftly to urgent safeguarding concerns, undertaking immediate visits and interventions as required to ensure child safety.
Gathering and analysing information from various sources, including families, other professionals, and agencies, to inform assessment and decision-making.
Working collaboratively with police, health, education, and other multi-agency partners to formulate clear plans of action.
Making robust threshold decisions in line with local and national safeguarding procedures, determining the appropriate level of intervention required.
Producing clear, concise, and analytical written reports and records within statutory timescales, including for strategy discussions and child protection conferences.
Undertaking direct work with children and families during the initial assessment phase, building rapport and understanding their circumstances.
Providing clear advice and signposting to families, ensuring they are aware of available support services.
Participating in duty rotas as part of the Initial Response Team, responding to new referrals.
Adhering to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures to ensure best practice in child safeguarding.
Key Requirements:
You must be a Qualified Social Worker with a degree in Social Work or equivalent.
Social Work England registration is essential and must be current.
An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
