Randstad Education is actively seeking inspiring and highly engaging Key Stage 1 (KS1) Supply Teachers (QTS) for various assignments, ranging from short-term emergency cover to longer-term placements across our network of partner primary schools.
This role is essential for ensuring continuity and quality of education for pupils aged 5-7. You will be responsible for providing a safe, stimulating, and consistent learning environment, delivering pre-planned lessons, and expertly managing the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Phonics & Early Literacy: Confidently and competently deliver foundation subjects, with a particular focus on phonics programs (e.g., Read Write Inc., Letters and Sounds) and developing early reading and writing skills.
Curriculum Delivery: Deliver the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum content, ensuring smooth transitions between activities and maintaining a positive learning pace.
Classroom Management: Utilise nurturing yet firm behaviour management strategies suited for younger pupils, maintaining a safe and consistent environment.
Assessment & Feedback: Monitor pupil progress throughout the session, providing appropriate feedback and liaising with the class teacher upon return.
Adaptability: Quickly integrate into different school environments, upholding each school's individual ethos and policies.
Safeguarding: Maintain a rigorous, non-negotiable commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils.
What We Require
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): You must hold Qualified Teacher Status relevant to the UK.
Experience: Recent and demonstrated experience teaching within Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and/or 2). Strong knowledge of phonics delivery is highly advantageous.
DBS: A current, clear Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one through Randstad).
