The Role:
We are looking for an inspiring and proactive Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide targeted support to students with a range of needs, including Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), communication disorders, and those needing help with emotional regulation. This role is fundamental to promoting an inclusive school environment where every student can achieve their personal best.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate access to the curriculum for students by clarifying instructions, adapting materials, and scribing/reading as required during lessons and exams.
- Run planned intervention sessions outside of the main classroom, focusing on areas such as literacy, numeracy, and social skills development.
- Assist in the creation and use of accessible learning resources, including visual aids and differentiated worksheets, tailored to individual needs.
- Provide effective support during internal and external examinations for students with documented access arrangements.
- Monitor and track the progress of key students, documenting their achievements and challenges, and contributing to review meetings for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Support students in developing independent study skills and self-advocacy, gradually reducing reliance on adult assistance.
- Help to manage challenging behaviour using positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies consistent with the school's policy.
What We're Looking For
The successful LSA will be a committed professional with a heart for helping others succeed and a practical approach to problem-solving in the learning environment.
- A minimum of Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Psychology).
- Proven experience supporting young people aged 11-16 in an educational or similar environment.
- Excellent organisational skills for preparing and managing resources and tracking student data.
- High levels of literacy and numeracy to confidently support students across the secondary curriculum.
- The ability to demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and discretion when dealing with sensitive student information.
- A genuine passion for inclusive education and a willingness to understand and support a wide spectrum of learning needs.
- A commitment to continuous professional development, particularly in relation to SEN practice and strategies.
