Role Overview
- Location: Lambeth, London
- Contract: Temporary, 35 hours per week
- Reporting to: Personal Care, Support, and Health Care Lead
Main Purpose of the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with curriculum staff to ensure that learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) have full accessibility to their programmes. Your goal is to help students achieve their educational outcomes and meet the targets outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Key Responsibilities
- Educational Support: Assist in the social and educational development of learners, fostering independent study skills and self-advocacy.
- Personal Care & Wellbeing: Provide essential support for personal care, medication, and general safety to ensure student well-being.
- Barrier Removal: Anticipate potential barriers to learning and implement intervention strategies to minimize difficulties.
- Assessment & Planning: Contribute to person-centred support plans and assist in reviewing student progress in line with college policies.
- Technical Assistance: Ensure specialist equipment and assistive technologies are operational and available for students who require them.
- Collaboration: Liaise with parents, key workers, and outside agencies to provide holistic support.
Requirements
- A sensitive, student-centred approach to learning and support.
- Ability to work effectively within a curriculum team.
- Knowledge of SEN practices and the ability to handle physical/medical needs with care.
- Strong communication skills for reporting and inter-agency liaison.
