The Role: Nurturing Success in Stowmarket
We are collaborating with a wonderful, community-focused school in Stowmarket to find a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA). This vital role is designed for an individual who can provide holistic, person-centred assistance that spans both academic learning and emotional well-being. You will be instrumental in creating a positive, focused atmosphere, helping pupils to manage their anxieties, improve their focus, and actively engage with all aspects of school life. Key Areas of Impact
- Provide tailored one-to-one or small group support, focusing on reinforcing core subject knowledge and developing crucial independent learning strategies.
- Work closely with teaching staff to implement individual support plans and ensure the learning environment is inclusive and accessible to all.
- Act as a supportive coach, helping students to navigate social challenges, manage their emotions, and uphold positive behaviour expectations.
- Monitor and document student engagement, providing regular, insightful feedback to the classroom teacher and wider support team.
- Encourage a growth mindset, promoting resilience, effort, and a positive attitude towards challenges and mistakes.
Essential Candidate Qualities
- Previous experience in an educational or child support capacity (e.g., as a Youth Worker, TA, or Mentor) is highly beneficial.
- A naturally caring, patient, and highly reliable character, with excellent situational awareness.
- The ability to establish strong, professional, and trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents quickly.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying encouragement and clear instructions.
- A valid Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or the willingness to successfully apply for one).
